Jazz musicians have traditionally used “after hours” gigs to push the boundaries of the art form. This year’s collaboration between the Summer Fest and Universal Grammar presents an eclectic mix of Jazz, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Electronic and Latin grooves at The Fairmont’s Pagoda Restaurant from late evening until the wee hours. Buy tickets online with your daily festival admission and save $10.

Mark de Clive-Lowe is originally from New Zealand, now in Los Angeles via West London. He has been one of the key musician/producers in the Broken Beat and Nu Jazz movements, blending jazz, ethnic music and urban grooves into a 21st Century sound. He has been involved with over 150 releases collaborating with a diverse range of artists such as Lauryn Hill and Jody Watley. Appearing with Mark is Emmy nominated singer-songwriter Sy Smith, who has notably worked with underground soul kings Foreign Exchange and Rich Medina. Show opener is SF-based DJ That Girl whose sound can be easily describe as "360% of Soul."

Introducing the new and fast-rising artist, Mara Hruby from Oakland, CA. She burst onto the scene in the beginning of 2010 playing shows all around the Bay Area, and has now released her debut EP From Her Eyes.  Mara is like the modern Billy Holiday mashing it up lyrically using some well-known Hip Hop and Reggae songs. Opening the night is DJ Cory “The C.M.E.” Randolf, resident DJ for the legendary P.S.T. weekly event in SF and Pagoda’s own “D1ME” in San Jose.
